The story of boy meets girl begins in the year 2014 at the OSAD (Organization for Students of African Descent) annual All Black Everything event at their alma mater, SUNY Brockport.. Shane, a well known DJ in upstate NY along with his friend David, were tasked with providing the vibes for the event as well as the afterparty. Per usual, the function was rocking as only a SFE function could at the time, and per usual, Shane and David took turns deejaying and engaging with the crowd. From across the room, a young lady named Keana was dancing with her friends so Shane decided to walk over and dance with her. As they danced, Keana’s friend Amber looked at her and gave her the “you good” look, and Keana said she was. They danced for what seemed like 8-10 songs until Shane had to go back and DJ and when he came back, his friends teased him for dancing so long with one girl. Before the night was up, Shane tried to find out her name and was told by his friends Prince and Lincoln that her name was “Keyonce.” The next time they interacted was on Twitter, as they didnt even know they had each other on. After weeks of that, they exchanged numbers and began to text and eventually hang out on a consistent basis. They don't remember the precise date that they started dating, but chose 3/29/14 because that is the day they first met each other. For Shane’s senior year and Keana’s sophomore year they were practically inseparable ;it was a glimpse into the life they were destined to have. They acquired their first dog son, Zion, when he was a puppy, and thus began the beginning of their family. Once Shane graduated, they kept it going by visiting each other from Brockport to Brooklyn, and once Keana graduated in 2017, they began to start planning their future together. They moved in together officially in 2018 in Queens and stayed there for a year. After both working in social services for far too long, in 2019 Shane asked Keana to trust him as he was feeling a calling to leave the NYC area to reconstruct his company, Smooth Family Entertainment and was offered an opportunity to start fresh in Syracuse, NY, and low and behold, she did. They moved to Syracuse the winter of 2019 and have been there ever since. Throughout their time together, there has been trials and tribulations as there are with every couple,, but Shane and Keana have always been a support system for each other throughout it all. As they discovered what true love is, they taught each other how to be vulnerable, and how the importance of communication is one of many important keys to a healthy and successful relationship. Although their journey is just beginning, Shane and Keana can’t wait to celebrate the product of 10 years of diligence, discovery, and the becoming of one union with the support of their loving and supportive families.
