Actually, Jessica and Scott have crossed paths multiple times before actually meeting. Jessica went to college at East Stroudsburg University and during the same time, Scott was with someone attending ESU, also a part of the music program. Somehow they still never met, even when they had mutual friends AND he was roommates with a few of them! Years later, after getting divorced (they both did, actually) Jessica decided to get back into theatre by auditioning up in Wilkes-Barre. At The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre for Spamalot auditions is where they officially met. Scott says he was drawn to her bubbly personality and amazing talent (his words). However, he was in a serious relationship with someone else, so they went their separate ways. They did become casual Facebook friends, but nothing beyond the sporadic photo “like”. A few years after that, on November 1, 2015, Jessica went to see The Book of Mormon at the Scranton Cultural Center with her parents. She posted a photo of the playbill to Facebook, and Scott saw and replied with, “I’m here too!” He also messaged her with, “Let’s go for coffee sometime to, you know, talk about theatre, and stuff.” They did not meet up that night (but she swears she was walking out of the theatre behind him). They messaged a bit more, then realized they were both invited to a mutual friend’s Halloween party the following weekend. They both ended up doing their own thing at the party, and didn’t talk AT ALL. Finally, the week after, Jessica agreed to see Scott perform in the Laramie Project at Little Theatre. (A very heavy show to see by yourself, let alone to meet up with someone for the first time!) After the show they went to Smokey Bones for their first time “meeting” but nothing official (she initially put him in the friend-zone). They officially were a couple on January 1, 2016, right after the ball dropped. Friend-zone no-more! It took a little less than a decade of crossing paths, but now they are finally together.
Yes, there were multiple proposals, well, attempts. The first was after seeing Star Wars Episode VIII, The Last Jedi in December of 2017. Jessica and Scott went to see the film with a few friends and afterwards Scott was acting “strange”, wanting to leave immediately. Jessica called him out, saying it was rude to leave when we should hang out with his friends and discuss the movie. They ended up leaving and then Scott spilled the beans. Little did she know that he had the ring and wanted to propose that night with all of these extravagantly romantic plans. Womp womp. The second was on their dating anniversary, on January 1, 2018 right after the ball dropped. Jessica didnt like how it felt “forced” and in front of dirty dishes. Womp womp. Finally, that same day, on January 1, 2018 was when the official proposal happened, but at the end of New Year’s Day. Jessica was nagging Scott to get ready for bed when he knelt down on one knee with the ring and proposed. She was totally surprised and this time it was perfect. She said yes, then Scott, Jessica, and their roommate, Beppler had a celebratory late-night meal, toasting to the couple’s future. Along with the three proposals, Jessica’s engagement ring also has three center stones. The couple’s favorite number also happens to be three. Perfect.
