On August 24th of 2019, the first day of fall semester, Jack and Liv worked their first shift together on the grill at Skipper's Pub in Oxford, OH. They saw each other in passing over the next few days and exchanged a few laughs, but Liv was unsure whether Jack was interested. While Liv was asking her friends whether to make a move herself, Jack was making moves behind the scenes - going to their supervisors and trying to convince them to schedule Liv and Jack together more often. What eventually scored them their first date was Jack's terrible resumé going into Career Fair, which Liv so graciously offered to fix (although she had never worked with LinkedIn and knew nothing about the business world). Just a few weeks later, when Liv's sorority Dad's Weekend rolled around, Liv wanted her dad to meet Jack, but wasn't sure how to frame their budding relationship. She (ever-so-politely) asked her Dad not to refer to him as her "boyfriend" or make him uncomfortable, and Justin generally did a great job rolling with the punches - tagging along to all of Jack's fraternity parties that weekend, participating in shotgun competitions, and making his way around every Oxford bar with them - until the end of the weekend when he posted a photo of himself, Jack, and Liv with the caption "Boyfriend/not boyfriend... great guy." (Find a photo of this Instagram post on the Gallery tab!) That night, Liv went to Jack's house, horrified by the post, and told Jack it might be time to define their relationship. The date of that Instagram post (September 28, 2019) is what Liv and Jack have celebrated their anniversary on for the past six years. Since then, Jack and Liv graduated from Miami University together, lived in Cincinnati post-grad, moved across the country to Boston for two years while Liv got her Master's degree, and most recently moved to Chicago while Jack gets his Master's degree. They got engaged on May 11, 2025 and they can't wait to spend the weekend of July 10-12, 2026 celebrating their love story with all of you!
