Not Your Everyday Meet Cute.

August 2017

I didn’t meet Aaron at the perfect time. Just the right one. We were both working night shifts at WinCo stocking freight. Life for both of us was a bit messy and unpredictable, and neither of us had any business catching feelings. But somehow, in the middle of all that chaos, there he was… tall, strong, and exactly the kind of guy you ask for help when the boxes are too heavy to lift from the ground to the top shelf without your handy-dandy stepstool. I was the new girl, still figuring out the job and trying not to be awkward about asking people for help. But Aaron had definitely caught my eye, so I figured I’d take full advantage of needing a hand. A little batting of the eyelashes, a little flirty small talk — it worked like a charm. One night, everything kind of shifted. He found me crying alone in the break room, totally overwhelmed and having a breakdown over where my son and I were going to live. Rent was due, options were limited, and I was just trying to keep my head above water. Instead of pretending not to notice, Aaron sat with me and listened. Turns out, he was in a similar situation, and we connected in a way that neither of us saw coming. Later that night, I messaged him on Facebook to thank him for being kind when I really needed it. That one message turned into hours of conversation, and we just... never stopped talking after that. He started giving me rides home from work since I didn’t have a car, and pretty soon we were spending more and more time together outside of work. He had one rule in his truck though: absolutely no country music. Which, for me, was a problem, because country is my favorite genre. Let’s just say that rule didn’t last long. Somehow, I won the aux cord battle, and I even convinced him to make a country song our song. To this day, “What Ifs” by Kane Brown is the one we always come back to. It wasn’t long after that I introduced him to Brennan. They clicked instantly, like they were always supposed to be in each other’s lives. Not too long after, there was a car seat in the back of Aaron’s truck, and those rides home started to feel more like coming home. We moved in together pretty quickly after that. Not because we had some grand plan, but because it just felt right. Life had already shown us that nothing goes exactly how you expect, so we figured we’d write our own story anyway. In June 2020, right in the middle of the COVID chaos, we got married. No guests, no big celebration, just us making a quiet promise to keep choosing each other. And while that moment was special, we always dreamed of having a real celebration one day — not to start our story, but to honor everything we’ve already built. This vow renewal may not land on a big milestone anniversary or a “perfect” moment, but it’s everything to us. After all these years, all these memories, and all the growing we’ve done together, we’re finally getting to throw the party we always planned. And we can’t wait to celebrate it with the people who mean the most. Aaron and Brennan bonded right away, which made everything feel even more meant to be. Now—nine years, a few kids, and lots of memories later—we’re finally throwing the celebration we always planned. (We know… nine isn’t a nice, round number, but we’ve never really done things by the book anyway!) Our story is about finding love when we least expected it, growing through the chaos, and choosing each other—every step of the way. We can’t wait to celebrate this chapter with all of you.

For all the days along the way
