The Town of Frisco Main St has lots of great small shops, restaurants, bars, and more. Just a few blocks long, we always enjoy just taking a lap down and back each side. Our faves: - Rocky Mountain Coffee Roaster (+ the attached record store) - Mountain Dweller Coffee (downstairs inside Outer Ranger Brewing) - Butterhorn Bakery (solid pastries) - Bread + Salt (great breakfast / lunch) - Moose Jaw (solid dive bar - we're talking carpet on the floor) - Summit Thai (always gotta check out the mountain-town Thai spots) - Prosit (german beer hall vibes) Nearby Breckenridge has a little bit larger of a downtown/main street, and offers another great experience in a picturesque CO mountain town! - The Crown Coffeeshop (4 stars from Jess) - Motherloaded Tavern (fuzzy leopard carpet, karaoke, good times) - Napper Tandys (always love an Irish bar) - RMU (back patio beer garden)
A word of caution - this is a popular activity this time of year. Like....really popular; we recommend leaving early in the morning; if you're down to be patient, be part of the crowd, and take it slow - it should be worth the efforts. Please learn about the Leave No Trace principles while enjoying the outdoors; take only photos, leave only footprints, and above all else please don't ever carve anything into the aspen trees. Guanella Pass, Aspen Alley, Ptarmigan Trail, Lily Pad Lake, Shrine Ridge, and dozens of other hikes/drives around the area are going to be at/near 'peak' leaf change, and the aspen groves are incredible this time of year. Take it slow, enjoy the views & obey all signage so you don't get ticketed or towed! As always, pack an extra layer, some water & sunscreen, and have a blast exploring!
There's a trail alllll the way around Lake Dillon, pack some snacks and enjoy the ride! Bike rentals are available in a few different places around town - wear a helmet!
