Dan and Caroline first met in 2012 at a house party in the heart of the University of Dayton’s student neighborhood, commonly referred to as “the ghetto”. It was Dan's move-in day as a freshman at UD, and Caroline was getting ready to start her senior year. Caroline handed Dan a Natty Light and said, "Welcome to the ghetto" (or so we’d like to think). That same night, Caroline took a picture of Dan and his future groomsman, Neal Bucher, and posted the photo to her social media. Caroline would later show Dan this photo on their first date. Fast forward eight years and one global pandemic later, and the two would reconnect at their mutual friend Drew Hogenkamp’s 30th birthday party in the fall of 2020 (shout out to Drew’s future wife, Chrissy, for throwing the party!). At the party, Caroline and Dan quickly realized there was a connection between them. Their first date was at the Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar in Covington, KY, where they sipped on old fashioneds and talked for hours. One year later, Dan would choose the spot where the two originally met as the perfect location to propose. Natty Light in hand, Dan got down on one knee in front of a house in the UD ghetto and asked, “Will you be the joy of my life for the rest of my life?”. Caroline said yes, and the rest is history…
