We’re getting married!

First date John and I went out for sushi. Because he lived in New Jersey and I lived in Brooklyn we met in the middle via Manhattan. Also because no one wants to go to Staten Island... the sushi was sub par but the conversation was not. After a great night of fun, laughter, and stories it was time to walk back to our respective train stations. Cut to a rom-com movie scene in front of Penn Station where we kissed goodnight and as I turned to walk away John took my hand and pulled me back in for one last kiss. *hand to forehead sigh* I pretty much knew I was sunk at that point but still asking God, is he the one for me? If he’s not for me, from you, then take him away because I don’t think I’m strong enough to leave this one on my own. And this conversation pretty much took place after every time John and I left each other with a little more reassurance each time. Neither one of us could’ve asked for more in a partner. We quickly realized our biggest disagreement was who can do more for one another. Makes sense since both of our love languages are “acts of service.” And pretty soon we knew that God had handpicked us for each other. Going to church every week and serving on team together was something we both started looking forward to. We both had come from backgrounds of church that we didn’t always feel comfortable in. But as we grew closer in our relationship together so has our relationship with God grown. Daily devotionals and gospel-laden talks with friends has become a part of our routine and we are so much stronger for it. After the sweetest Easter Egg hunt I had ever particpated in, I said yes to this beautiful man who decided that I was worthy to be a wife because he was worthy to be a husband. We couldn’t be happier and we want people to know that if you’re still waiting for your heaven sent mate, just pray, wait, and trust. Because we promise it’s better in His timing and more than you can dream.
