Kimberly & Matt met volunteering for Penn State's Dance MaraTHON during their senior year at Penn State. THON is a student-run philanthropy that raises money for pediatric cancer research. They were both placed on a Communications Committee to help spread the word about fundraising. Over the course of their senior year full of weekly THON meetings and events, weekends out at Penn State's bars, sending each other embarrassing Snapchats & funny Buzzfeed articles, and even cramming together for finals in the Pattee Library, they became the best of friends. When May of 2016 came along, Kimberly was set to move to New York City shortly after she graduated. Their friendship blossomed despite the distance from Virginia (where Matt spent his summer) to New York City, and for Kimberly's 23rd birthday, Matt hopped on a bus to the Big Apple so they could celebrate together. Fast forward 6 years, and now the two reside in Philadelphia with their adorable mini labradoodle named Wilson. They couldn't be more thankful that such a worthwhile cause brought them together!
Just days after Kimberly and Matt's four year anniversary, they took a trip to visit Kimberly's hometown outside of Philadelphia to catch up with family & friends. On Saturday morning, Matt asked Kimberly if she wanted to take him to Valley Forge National Park, as he knew it was one of her favorite spots outside of Philadelphia, especially in the fall. Beneath the National Memorial Arch, Matt got down on one knee and popped the question! It was the first time in Kimberly's life that she was ever truly left speechless. After the proposal, Kimberly was surprised to see her family, friends, and Matt's parents right on the other side of the arch, where they had seen the whole thing! They popped champagne in the park, and afterward headed to a nearby restaurant where some of their closest friends would join them to celebrate! It was an unforgettable day full of love & happiness.
