Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

The wedding dress code is "Summer Camp Chic" – Encouraged: Vintage or thrifted attire in summery colors with a whimsical flair, functional footwear, woodland foliage floral headpieces (antlers optional); Discouraged: Jeans and t-shirts, formal suits/tuxedos, high heels. For the dance party portion, the dress code is "sequin-sparkle-dance-party" meets "outdoorsy-pagan-vibes". Just get creative and you'll fit right in!

Question

Are children allowed? Are pets allowed?

Answer

Children are welcome to attend the wedding. Pets, however, are not. We kindly ask you leave your furry friends at home during the wedding festivities. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Directions to Eagle Beach State Recreation Area

Answer

Please note that “Eagle Beach Recreation Area” on Google Maps in the wrong place; Apple Maps has it in the correct place. Exact coordinates are 58°31'35.6"N 134°48'57.6”W. From Auke Bay, head north on Glacier Highway; it is approximately a 15.5 miles or 21 minutes drive from Auke Bay. As you near Eagle Beach Recreation Area, you will pass over Herbert River followed by Eagle River. Lastly, you will pass Eagle River United Methodist Camp on the right, and almost immediately after on the left you will see the turn in for Eagle Beach State Recreation Area. Unless you are camping and have parking at your campsite, please park in the general parking.

Question

Where is the Ceremony? How should we get there?

Answer

Our wedding Ceremony will be at the End Pavillion at Eagle Beach Day Use Area (58°31'41.7"N 134°49'38.6"W), which is a 1 minute drive north on Glacier Highway from the general parking lot, all the way at the pavilion at the end of the parking lot. For those catching the trolley from in town, worry not, you will be dropped off in the correct place. For those driving from in town, please park in the general parking lot at Eagle Beach and catch the trolley over (they will be doing spins through the parking lot, exact schedule TBD). There is parking at the Day Use Area where the ceremony will take place, but it is very limited and you will need to move your car by 9pm.

Question

Where is the Wedding Reception?

Answer

The Wedding Reception (and all summer camp activities) will be hosted at the Group Camp Site at Eagle Beach, which is also where all summer camp activities will be hosted. Campers, please park at your designated campsites, and non-camper guests please park in the general parking lot for Eagle Beach.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

For anyone who has not heard the news, we bought a vintage trolley that we will be using the week of the wedding. Stay tuned for a trolley transportation schedule from Auke Bay coming soon for the week of the wedding and the wedding day.

Question

When is sunrise/set? What type of weather should we pack for?

Answer

During the wedding, sunset in Juneau will be around 10:10pm and rises around 3:30am. Bring eye masks if you are light sleepers! We could see a big variety of weather, so be prepared for anything. We will likely want to spend a lot of time outside in the elements. Bring non-cotton warm layers and rain gear! That said, the weather very well may be warm and sunny. We encourage you to look at our "Packing List" tab for more information.

Question

We want to camp! What should we know?

Answer

Camping is $20/night per site, and is first-come-first served. Worry not, it is not a very busy campground and we plan to take over most of it. Please let us know what nights you will be camping so we can plan group dinners accordingly. All campers should plan on volunteering for either helping with meal prep or help with cleanup. Musical instruments are highly encouraged as we foresee many jam sessions taking place throughout the week.

Question

What if we want to camp, but we are missing some gear?

Answer

We've created a Facebook group for out-of-towners and Juneau locals to connect in the event that someone is needing gear and someone else has extra. We encourage you to join the group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/winterhoock/. We will be setting up a comprehensive camp kitchen and general group site so you wont have to worry about bringing a camp kitchen setup.
