FAQs

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

No. Puerto Rico is a US territory so passports are not required for travel.

Question

What is the wedding dress code?

Answer

We are asking that guests dress in beach formal attire. We found the below explanation from Brides.com very helpful Women A dress, suit, or jumpsuit all work for a beach formal wedding. Opt for solid, lighter colors (avoiding black, cream, and white) or a fun pattern on a non-white background and breathable fabrics. Tea-length dresses, jumpsuits, slacks and blouses are acceptable for beach formal attire. To up the elegance, wear a fabric such as metallic or lace. Since stilettos are a hazard on the sand for the ceremony, wear a chunky heel or formal sandals. Consider bringing a formal pair of heels for the reception which is not on the beach. Men Wear either a suit or a long-sleeved shirt, no tie needed, with a jacket and slacks. Opt for solid colors, avoiding black, cream, and white or a fun patterned shirt — a summer suit is a perfect solution. Consider a breathable fabric such as linen, khaki, or seersucker. Dress shoes or a nice pair of shoes that compliment the slacks are required. Shorts and sandals are not permitted. The ceremony will take place on the beach. The cocktail hour will take place on an outdoor balcony while the reception will take place in a ballroom with balcony access. The good news is that everything is taking place at the Royal Sonesta, so if you are staying at the hotel you can change into dancing shoes at any time!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We understand that there could be children on the island for a family vacation, but we ask that they not attend the ceremony or the reception.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

We think we know which of our friends and family have food allergies, but if you are concerned, please state your restrictions as a comment when you RSVP.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Please see the travel tab for our recommended hotels.

Question

Can we stay at the hotel after the wedding on an extended vacation?

Answer

Yes! The room block is active from April 24 to May 2. Feel free to take advantage of the block prior to or after the wedding! You may also spot the newlyweds on their honeymoon!

Question

What are the COVID-19 Protocols?

Answer

Puerto Rico was on the stricter side of COVID-19; however, as of December 2022, vaccination cards are not needed for travel. We are asking that if you are not vaccinated that you wear a mask during the wedding events to ensure the safety of our guests. We will continue to monitor the situation and update the FAQs if anything changes.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by March 1, 2023. If we see any discrepancies with RSVPs after this date we will reach out to you directly.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

There is no need to get us a gift for the wedding as your journey to the island is gift enough! We have, however, listed a few items on the registry tab of this website in case you are feeling particularly generous. We are asking that no one bring wrapped gifts to the wedding because it would be a hassle for you to bring as well as for us ship items back to Michigan.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We are still working out those details, but we will contact you directly once any additional event information is solidified.
