Jace moved over to Winter’s team while they both worked as underwriters at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. During his first few weeks on the team, Jace asked Winter to drinks. She of course said no because she didn’t want to date someone from her same team. Jace must have called in some favors from leadership because a couple of months later there was an office reorganization and they were no longer on the same team. Shortly thereafter, with no more reasons to say no, Winter agreed to their first date: cocktails in downtown Detroit the day before Thanksgiving in 2017.
Jace and Winter took a trip to Vegas to celebrate one of their best friend’s, Sarah’s, birthdays. On the last full day of the trip things were not going well for Winter. She was hungover from Sarah’s birthday celebration the night before and was actively losing all of her money at virtual blackjack. Jace convinced her to take a walk, get a cocktail at a bar they found, have some lunch at Gordon Ramsey’s pub and decompress. While Jace had Winter distracted, Sarah and her husband, Greg, were setting up the hotel room with specially ordered balloons for the big question. After a very filling lunch, Winter was looking forward to a much needed nap in their hotel room. After getting off of the elevator, Winter found a do not disturb sign on the hotel room door. Jace calmed her fears about whatever that sign was for and she walked into the room. After walking in, she saw balloons, turned around and saw the love of her life on one knee with the ring they had picked out together.
