Should we try to book a rental near the happy couple?

Answer

No need! The island is small enough that no matter where you stay you are a 10 minute or less golf cart ride away.

I can book the tram but not the ferry?

Answer

Although you can book the tram to take you to your rental and drop you back at the ferry; you cannot purchase ferry tickets until you arrive. Both the ferry and the tram book quickly. We recommend booking your drop off and pick up tram tickets asap. We recommend arriving at least 90 min prior to ferry departure to ensure a spot on the ferry. If you miss the ferry you will have to catch the next one. This may mean your bags are waiting at the ferry terminal when you arrive on the island. How many guests can I bring?

Answer

As many as you want. Since we are not having any formal dinners or receptions we are not dealing with budget issues. As long as you have space in your rental you can bring anyone you want. Remember this week is for you too!

Why no reception or formal wedding?

Answer

At this point in our lives we can’t justify spending that much money on one night. We would rather spend time with you. We decided a week where we meet for dinner, hang out at the pool and the beach is more meaningful. Instead we will take pictures on Friday in our fancy wedding best.

We cannot come for the full week, can we still attend?

Of course! Come for however long or short you would like.

Which beach club should I join?

Answer

We prefer the Shoals Club. The Shoals club is more simple and adult. There is a kid area. It is beach front with a large salt water pool and pool side bar. They will set up beach chairs and umbrellas upon request on the beach for you. The restaurants are fantastic and a nice break from fried beach food. The BHI Club is very kid friendly and has golf access. There are water slides and lots of kid areas. It is not beach front. There are also a selection of restaurants here. We understand that not every rental has access to both clubs and you may not have a choice in which club you can join. For this reason we have chosen a rental that has access to both and we will be getting memberships to both so we can spend time with everyone.

My rental is not beach front, how do I access the beach?

There are multiple beach access spots about every half mile with plenty of golf cart parking and bike racks.

How do you get around on the island?

Answer

There are no cars. Only golf carts, bicycles and your feet. Every rental typically comes with golf carts and bicycles. The island is small enough that you can get to any spot in less than 10 minutes.

What is there to do on the island?

Answer

Besides the lighthouse there a lots of hiking trails and places to explore. Be sure to bring bug spray and sunscreen!

Are the beaches crowded?

Answer

There are not many day visitors to the island. Since most people are staying on the island this means the beaches are not crowded at all. You can typically walk over a mile at some parts of the island beaches without seeing another person.

What should I bring to the island?

Answer

Just yourself and your clothes. Rentals provide everything (sheets, towels, beach towels, beach chairs, beach toys, bikes, umbrellas, etc). There is a hardware store, grocery store and other stores on the island.

How do my things get to the island?

Answer

You can check your bags, bins, coolers, etc at the ferry and they will load on the tram to your rental when you arrive. We recommend putting loose items in a large plastic bin and check the bin. This may include special items you may want to bring. You can also purchase bins at the ferry to check items.

What do I do with my car?

Answer

There is ample and secure parking at the ferry terminal.
