Our Story
2013
We first met
Anna and Joe met at Washington College located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Their first conversation took place in Fall 2013 at the dining hall when Joe came over to where Anna was sitting to say hi. Since that day 9 years ago, Anna and Joe have grown together and have supported one another in their professional careers.
2016
Life in North Carolina
After Joe graduated in 2015, he commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. While spending a year training in Quantico, a Marine Corps base in Virginia, Joe visited Anna almost every weekend at Washington College where she was finishing up her senior year. After Anna graduated in 2016, she moved to North Carolina to pursue a Master's degree at Duke University. Conveniently, Joe got orders to Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina so the two were able to see each other quite often.
2018
Just a drive across the Bay
In 2018, Anna received the opportunity to enroll in a PhD program in Cambridge, Maryland. After Joe returned from his second deployment in 2019, he landed a position training new marine officers at The Basic School in Quantico, VA, and the two see each other almost every weekend.
2022
Our relationship
Anna and Joe like to share life's experiences together. This entails Anna sitting in a tree stand in the freezing cold or schlepping through the marsh at 5am to go hunting. It also entails Joe sacrificing his relaxing weekends to go on long bike rides to train for triathlons. But their absolute favorite thing to do is to sleep in on a weekend, make a yummy breakfast, and watch Netflix together on the couch.
2023
Our Future
Anna will graduate and Joe will finish a 9 month course in May 2023. They are hoping for military orders to move back down to North Carolina where Joe will serve as a Company Commander in an Infantry Battalion at Camp Lejeune and Anna will find a position at one of the nearby universities. They will miss being close to friends and family in Maryland but hope they come visit and enjoy the beautiful beaches of North Carolina.
