The love story between Ryan and Katie starts, and almost finishes, in November 2017. Ryan first laid eyes on Katie in downtown Toledo at the engagement party of mutual friend, Ashley Fisher, and her now husband, Brandon Focht. While they were mutual friends with Ashley, Ryan and Katie were part of different friend groups and weren’t familiar with one another. No words were shared between Ryan and Katie at the engagement party and their love story is put on-hold for the remainder of 2017. Fast forward one year later to November 2018 for the Ohio State vs. Michigan football game in Columbus. Katie was visiting Ashley with her girlfriends for The Game. Ryan was hosting his friends and they decided to migrate to Big Bar to watch The Game. Ashley reached out to Ryan to meet up and the girls arrived at Big Bar just as halftime approached. In most Hallmark movies, this is where sparks fly and when Ryan and Katie fall in love. Unfortunately for Katie, the Buckeyes were in a dog fight with Michigan and Ryan wasn’t looking for love – he was looking for another Big Ten title. This time Ryan and Katie were introduced to each other and words were exchanged, but again, their love story is put on-hold for the remainder of 2018. 2019 was the year the stars aligned for Ryan and Katie. Ryan spent Spring 2019 courting Katie and they both made numerous trips back and forth to Columbus and Toledo. While on vacation in Punta Cana with friends, they officially started dating in Summer 2019. Ryan and Katie started dating long distance in Summer 2019; Katie living in Toledo, Ohio and Ryan in Columbus, Ohio. After 1.5 years of long-distance dating, Katie moved to Columbus in Spring 2021. In Summer 2022, Ryan proposed to Katie while on vacation in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
