I know, I know, it's November. It's cold. Put on your fur coat and go for a walk on the beach! Martha's Vineyard has beautiful beaches, and because it's an island there are beaches literally in every direction. Take off your shoes, feel the sand between your toes!
A Vineyard institution. There's the Black Dog Bakery right by the ferry, the Black Dog Tavern around the corner, the Black Dog Café up State Road toward West Tisbury. Buy a t-shirt or a mug, get a cup of delicious coffee, have some amazing clam chowder, and finish with a chewy ginger cookie.
You already said it's cold, I know. Go get an ice cream. Erica's favorite is the M&M Cream, while Lucas prefers the Mint Oreo Cream. Try one of those, but get Butter Crunch too.
Drive a town over to Oak Bluffs and see the Methodist campground and the gingerbread houses. Beautiful little old houses in bright colors and decorations. Ask Dave Wilpon about the history, he's an expert!
Keep driving through Oak Bluffs, and you'll eventually get to Edgartown. Known for its beautiful architecture, this old whaling port has lovely shops and art galleries. Stop in at North Water Gallery to see some really stunning art!
One of our favorite places to go for a walk on the Vineyard. Take a walk down the pier and look at all the fishing boats. Go to Menemsha Fish Market for a cup of lobster bisque and sit outside on an old lobster trap. You'll never feel farther from the hustle and bustle of mainland life.
The Wilpon men love to golf. The Vineyard has beautiful golf courses, but many of them are seasonal. Mink Meadows is open year-round! This is where the locals go to golf. Ask to see the prototype of the Orange Whip in the office! I don't know what it does, but it's very cool.
The movie Jaws was filmed on Martha's Vineyard! Watch it before you come, and then take yourself on a tour of all the filming locations. In the summer, people love jumping off "Jaws Bridge" in Oak Bluffs! In the late fall, don't do that!
