Boulder is special to us for many reasons. It was one of our first travel experiences together, Lauren's first experience rock climbing... ever. We've both had a lot of personal growth here, as well as growth in our partnership, and in our little family with Charlie and Wesley. We love the culture, the views, the activities available being so close to the mountains, and we can't wait to share it with you! We're also thinking it'll make for some nice wedding photo backdrops :)
Walks in the park was the go-to activity during March of 2020. Lauren met Tony at Drake Sports Park in West Bloomfield, MI after one of his skateboarding sessions. They walked, talked. Lauren shared that her mom was nervous that Tony might be a serial killer because they had met online, so they eased Cheryl's mind by taking a silly selfie with Tony "sneaking" up behind her. Tony brought Lauren chocolates and made her tea with his camping stove. They both got butterflies and couldn't wait for their next walk together.
Tony and Lauren enjoy watching adventure shows like Eco Challenge, Naked and Afraid, and The Amazing Race. Tony was inspired and planned an Amazing Race style scavenger hunt for Lauren one Saturday on the basis of "we need to spice up our hikes". Lauren had an idea what might be at the end of the hunt, but also thought it could be a trick to throw her off, so she chose to enjoy the day at face value. The clues took them all over metro Detroit, hitting some of their favorite spots, which ended at the Drake Sports Park where - if you've been reading along - they had their first date. In 30 degree, windy weather, Tony's clue had Lauren make tea on that same camping stove before she could earn her next clue... which included a ring. Spoiler alert - she said yes. They celebrated that evening at their favorite swanky, speakeasy style restaurant downtown.
A few months after meeting Tony, Lauren bought her first house in Berkley, MI. About a year after that, Tony and his two boys, Charlie (now 10) and Wesley (now 8), moved in and they live together with the boys half of the time. They visit their rock climbing gym a few times a week and love the location and amenities around their neighborhood.
