Rainer and Stefan met in November of 1996, when Stefan made his grand debut into the world. Growing up in the pool, Stefan was always chasing Rainer’s records and best times. Stefan and Rainer made a pact with their grandmother that they would be each other’s Best Man one day, a promise they’ve kept, with Stefan already standing by Rainer’s side at his wedding. Kaylynn knew Lauren before Lauren even knew herself. As the protective cousin and pseudo–older sister, Kay changed Lauren’s diapers, played Santa by wrapping her Christmas presents, and always shared the best early-2000s hand-me-downs. Stefan and Santiago’s friendship began in 5th grade after discovering they lived just a block apart. From playing soccer as kids, to traveling to Colombia as adults, Stefan and Santi have remained loyal friends. Santi also played a special role in Stefan’s story by introducing him to Lauren, making his place by Stefan’s side all the more meaningful.
