Two weeks after graduating from High Point, dad and I packed up my old Grand Prix and made our way down to Fort Myers, FL so I could start my first big girl job at Gartner! A few weeks in, I was helping to host a company event at Fort Myers Brewing, a local favorite for all Gartner associates. While in line, I turned around to see some cute guy wearing an Indiana University T-shirt. We made small talk about the Midwest and turns out he had just moved down to start at Gartner too! He hadn't met anyone else in Florida besides his roommate, so I invited him over that weekend to hang out with my group of HPU friends. Before Alex arrived, I made it very clear I have dibs. Safe to say all of my friends were disappointed after meeting him. He was so funny, caring and a total rockstar at flip cup. We spent almost every weekend together after that and our friendship built an amazing foundation for our relationship. It didn't take me long to realize he was the guy I wanted to spend forever with. Not a day goes by where he doesn't make me laugh, challenge me to be my best or remind me of some upcoming sporting event we HAVE to watch. Through a hurricane, a cross country move, a global pandemic and one of the hardest things Alex has ever experienced, Drew Bree's retirement, we've continued to put each other first. He's my best friend and continues to surprise me everyday and I'm so thankful for that day at Fort Myers Brewery. Here's to forever my love! XOXO, Lexie
I planned a “birthday trip” for Lexie down to Dripping Springs, TX, a small town just west of Austin where they have plenty of wineries, breweries, distilleries, and a beautiful cenote called the Hamilton Pool Preserve. One of Lexie’s favorite trips was down in Tulum where she loved exploring the Mexican Cenotes, I knew that would be the perfect place to ask her to spend the rest of our lives together. Leading up to Saturday May 22nd, the weather wasn’t looking too great with a big chance of rain in the morning when I had planned to propose. We were at a coffee shop the morning before and I must have been checking the radar every 30 seconds saying “I think we have a gap” and persistent that we had to do this hike. If you know Lexie and I at all we are not huge hiking people so Lexie was starting to suggest other indoor options for us which was not an option for me! Adamant on the hike, we made our way down the to the cenote and just as it started to rain I dropped down to a knee and asked Lexie to be my Bride. Soaked and in love we made our way back to get cleaned up and celebrated the rest of the day bouncing around wineries, distilleries and breweries so happy to be together forever. When we arrived back in Dallas, I had our a few of our friends already in our apartment with pizza and champagne to celebrate! Lexie has taught me so much over the last three and a half years and I strive every day to be a better person for her and our relationship. I can’t wait until we can officially tie the knot and spend the rest of our lives together. Love, Alex
