Travel Note
Our venue is located in downtown Leadville situated at just over 10,000 ft above sea level. While everyone responds differently to the altitude, we strongly recommend everyone considers the following: 1. Ascend Gradually. If you can afford to travel a couple of days early, spend a night or two in Denver prior to continuing up to Leadville for the ceremony. 2. Sleep at a lower elevation. There are several mountain towns nearby that are at a lower elevation. For those with significant concern, we suggest considering driving back to Denver after the ceremony/reception. 3. Stay hydrated. Drink enough water to avoid dehydration. This may be considerably more than you are used to drinking each day. 4. Eat carbohydrates. 5. Be mindful of alcohol consumption. While we want everyone to have a great time, alcohol does exaggerate and enhance the dehydration many feel at higher altitude. 6. Consider medication. Doctors can prescribe medicine to help prevent altitude sickness.
