Weather

Friends and Family, We're delighted that you're coming to our wedding. Please know that we intend to have the ceremony outside. However, we have an inclement weather plan to move the ceremony indoors if weather dictates. We also recognize that there has been significant weather in the Southeast over the last few weeks. We anticipate that hurricane Milton will pass well South of Amelia Island and that we will have great weather for the wedding. However, we love all of you. Please do not take any risk trying to get to the wedding. If you can't make it, we understand and look forward to when we can celebrate together in the future. Be Safe! - Jennifer and Bill

Truly Meant to Be

When Bill was in the pipeline to Command of USS ALASKA (Blue Crew) in Kings Bay, GA in 2019 he would frequently stay with our dear friends Chris and Mary. Mary worked at Jennifer's veterinary clinic. In late 2019 Mary asked Jennifer if she would be interested in going on a date with one of their friends. Mary showed Jennifer a picture of Bill and, surprisingly after seeing the picture, Jennifer said yes. During this time Bill was only in Kings Bay for brief stops and before the date could come to fruition Chris and Mary transferred to the Pacific Northwest. Just missed the first time. Fast forward to mid 2021. Bill and his friend Paul were sitting on the balcony of BIll's condo overlooking the beautiful Amelia Island beach. Paul came up with a brilliant idea and reached out to a running friend Robin who lives in the area asking if she had any single friends who might be interested in meeting someone. Robin (who's awesome husband Toby was at the Naval Academy at the same time as Bill) reached out to Jennifer showing her a picture of Bill asking if she would be interested in going on a date. Jennifer again said yes but due to a confluence of factors including BIll going to sea they still did not meet up. Just missed a second time. In the fall of 2021 Bill was offered a position to remain in Kings Bay following his submarine command tour. He turned the offer down stating "I want to meet a woman. I'm going to do that in Washington DC." He instead took orders to Washington DC. Upon returning from his final patrol in command of ALASKA in early 2022, Bill was contacted nearly immediately by Paul who said he was coming down to Amelia island for a charity ball. He told Bill that he had gotten him two tickets and would help him find a date. The charity was Take Stock in Children of Nassau County where Robin is the Executive Director. Again Robin reached out to Jennifer who said "Of course, this is the third time folks have tried to fix us up." After Robin provided Bill with Jennifer's phone number, he reached out offering to meet up before the charity dinner for coffee or a meal to get to know each other better before the charity ball. Jennifer replied with "Absolutely, it's about time we met up." Of course Jennifer had pieced it all together. Bill had not! After Jennifer's reply, Bill googled her name and Jennifer's clinic came up. On the landing page was a picture that included Mary (from the first just missed)! Bill called Mary right away asking her if she knew Jennifer. Mary replied, "Of course I do! I tried to fix you up 2 and a half years ago!" Then it all came together for BIll too. He was slow on that one. Their first date was at Ciao restaurant in downtown Fernandina Beach. It was during the Concours d'Elegance car show weekend on Amelia island. Bill had to call in a favor to get the reservation as all restaurants were booked out. Jennifer was intelligent, beautiful, and kind with a wonderful sense of humor. Bill was smitten from moment one. Another patron of the restaurant, Walt, played the foil and made Bill look really good. In all, it was a wonderful six hour (six hour!) first date that turned out to be the start of something truly meant to be.
