Question

Is there bus / shuttle service to and from the venue (Mt. Ida)??

Answer

YES! See notes below: Two buses will depart from the Omni Hotel (Water Street) at 4:00pm to arrive at Mt. Ida in time for the ceremony. One bus will depart from Mt. Ida to the Omni at 9:20p for those who would prefer an earlier night. Two buses will depart from Mt. Ida to the Omni at 11:10p for those who would like to stay for the entire reception. Important Note: Uber and Lyft will be difficult if not impossible to secure from Mt. Ida back to Charlottesville. Plan accordingly.

Question

What is the dress code for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding will be black tie optional. We want to to stress the word optional here, as in the grooms party will be wearing tuxes and the bridal party will be wearing full length gowns, but we don't expect our guests to do the same! If you have been dying to wear a tux or a snazzy gown then now is your chance and we'd love to see it! But anything in the cocktail/formal range is welcomed and encouraged. The ceremony will be outside in the grass so plan your footwear accordingly.

Question

What should I wear to the welcome party?

Answer

The welcome party dress code is classy casual. It will be directly after the rehearsal dinner so many of us will be dressed up but anything is allowed for the welcome party portion (jeans ok, no suit, tie, etc required).

Question

Can I bring my kids to the wedding?

Answer

We kindly ask that parents take a night off from kiddo duty to celebrate with us! While we love little ones, we ask that they skip the ceremony and reception. However we would love to see them at the welcome party if you are staying the weekend!

Question

Is there parking at the wedding venue?

Answer

Yes, there is parking at Mt Ida near the Lodge. We also have prepared a shuttle service for those who wish to avoid driving, please see the travel tab on the website for more information and the shuttle schedule.

Question

Is there parking at the brunch venue?

Answer

Parking near UVA's gardens and rotunda can be a little complicated. We recommend parking in the Elliewood Ave parking garage (~3 minute walk), the Corner parking lot (~3 minute walk), or the Central Grounds garage (~9 minute walk) to get to garden II (the garden closest to the rotunda on the east side). There are also access roads that run along the garden entrance if you need to drop off members of your party directly before finding parking in the area.
