Boy Meets Girl

1996-2012

Will and I have known each other for a very long time. We met for the first time as kids at our dads' softball game. Back then he was the boy that stole the balls from us when anyone hit a home run and I was the bossy girl that always had to get my way. We've grown up a ton right? We didn't meet again for about 10 years. Gerry (Will's dad) had a party at his house. Will played video games in his room while my sister and I played euchre with the other guests. I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure we didn't talk after saying "hi". The next time I saw him was 5 or so years later to celebrate our friend Phil's birthday.

A New Beginning

June 2013

A few years went by before Will & I met again. This time it during a family float trip. Will & I were voluntold to go down Current River together in a canoe. Friday night before the float we were introduced again. Will brought some of his homemade IPA with him (and boy did it taste good!) After a few games & cooking by the fire we started talking more. We stayed up until the sun began to rise. We managed to get a little bit of sleep (in our separate tents) before our float began. Apparently staying up had done us in. On the very first bend of the river (not even a mile in) we managed to flip our canoe. Thankfully Will was quick & helped me out of the current before saving everything in our canoe. The rest of the float was smooth sailing. When we returned to Belleville I began seeing Will around town more. We would see each other whenever our parents met up (so at least once a week). We started hanging out with friends away from our parents & eventually began going out alone. A few weeks floating we made our relationship official.

The Proposal

January 19, 2019

Will surprised me with a weekend at Disney World for a Christmas present (best gift ever!) Corinne (matron-of-honor pro before she even started) told me the tricks for getting into Belle's castle for dinner. Once we found out a reservation was available she help coerce (aka force) Will into booking dinner there <3 At Disney, we explored all the parks on Saturday before heading to the Magical Kingdom. We made it to Cinderella's castle just in time to grab a coffee (we're old) & snag a spot to watch the fireworks show. Little did I know that Will was ready to propose right then. Thankfully(?) I was singing along with the show a little too loudly & one of our neighbors turned his video on me to sing Moana. That put a stop to Will proposing right there in a crowd of people lol. After the show was over the park really cleared out. We went on the Teacup ride & headed to Belle's castle for dinner. We were a bit too early so we walked over to Gaston's Tavern to relax. The scene was wonderful! We could see both Cinderella's & Belle's castle while listening to music from Beauty & the Beast. I was telling everyone that I'm going to move there & they could come visit me whenever. Then I noticed Will had a strange look on his face. I asked Will what he was thinking & he replied "I'm thinking about marrying you." Welp that went right over my head lol. Will responded by getting on one knee & asking me to marry him. I immediately put my hands in front of my mouth & said "What are you doing? No you're not. What are you doing? No you're not." for I don't even know how long (I think I blacked out). Eventually I said "the most pathetic yes" Will has ever heard and put on the ring. I can't tell you how the food was at Belle's castle because I was too busy staring at the ring & watching the reflection of the fire in it :D
