During Becka’s senior year of high school and William’s junior year, they worked together at a diner. It was NOT love at first sight. In fact, they couldn’t stand each other! Fast forward ten years. Becka had moved back from seven years living out of state and struck up a friendship with a girl at her new job. Becka often accompanied this friend and her boyfriend to dinner, where William, as the boyfriend’s close friend, was also a frequent guest. Through these regular dinners, the ice between Becka and William slowly thawed. Eventually, a new friendship between the pair formed. They began to occasionally spend time together without the other couple, and William finally gathered up the courage to ask Becka on a date! Panicked at the thought of disrupting this newfound friendship, she turned him down. However, the idea stuck in her mind, and Becka began to wonder what it would be like to date William. By the time she realized she DID actually kind of like him, she was also struck with another realization: he likely wouldn’t venture to ask her out again after she had rejected him the first time! So although it was way out of her comfort zone, in a moment of extreme bravery on a Tuesday morning, Becka messaged William to ask if he still wanted to take her on that date. He opened it, and then didn’t respond. All. Day. Oh, the anxiety!!!! Needless to say, Becka wasn’t able to focus much that day. FINALLY, at 6:30 that evening, he responded and asked her where she would like to go. They went on their first real date at a mutual favorite restaurant—UNOs. And the rest, as they say, is history!
