Will there be transportation provided to the wedding venue?

Answer

There will be a shuttle (44 person school bus) picking people up from The Surf Hotel and The Best Western. Please note Main Street will be blocked off this afternoon for the 14erFest. The shuttle will start at 4pm at The Surf Hotel and pick up at the Best Western by 4:20 to make sure everyone is at The Barn at Sunset Ranch no later than 4:45 to be seated. There is only one bus going from town to the venue. The first bus to return to town from the reception will leave right at 10pm stopping at The Best Western and The Surf Hotel and the last bus will leave at 11pm with an additional stop at The Lariat for the after-party. If you leave your car overnight at The Barn at Sunset Ranch you MUST pick it up by noon on Sunday.

Will we be at higher elevation?

Answer

Yes! Buena Vista sits at about 8000ft, and Denver is at 5280ft. It's very important to drink a lot of water if you are not used to the elevation. Electrolytes in your water are a great idea as well!

Is the ceremony outside?

Answer

Yes! The Colorado sun is strong at altitude so we recommend sunglasses and sunscreen for the ceremony even though it’s at 5pm. As long as the sun is out it should be warm (60-70degrees) and cools off in the shade drastically.

How far is Buena Vista from Denver?

Answer

It's about 2 - 2.5 hrs from Denver on highway 285. No dirt roads or winding overpasses, all highway driving.

Will there be traffic from Denver?

Answer

Likely, yes! Friday afternoons are notorious for being packed on the roads heading to the mountains. Leaving around noon from Denver is advisable on Friday. Please plan accordingly.

Does Buena Vista have Uber or Lyft?

Answer

There are no Ubers or Lyfts in Buena Vista. Corrine is a local taxi driver and has our wedding on her calendar to be on retainer should anyone need a ride. She can also coordinate shuttles if need be. https://www.corrinecarservice.com/

When should we book our accommodation?

Answer

As soon as possible! There will be a festival going on the same weekend as our wedding in Buena Vista. Airbnbs and VRBOs will book up fast so please plan accordingly!

How far is Buena Vista from Colorado Springs?

Answer

It's about 1hr 50min from Colorado Springs. Flights into CO Springs may be more expensive than Denver.

What if we want to come in early?

Answer

Please make a vacation out of this, Buena Vista is a beautiful place. We hope to have activities going on as early as Thursday in the week going through Sunday.
