Flight
This is your only option for travel, other than a cruise (inadvisable), or driving for six days through Canada (that's what we're going to do). Good airport, though!
Travel Note
Lodging in Anchorage in the summer can be pretty expensive. We chose to reserve a block of rooms at the Motel 6 in midtown Anchorage because it offered a nice balance of proximity to the venue, reasonable quality, and price. The block rate is $160 per night for a non-smoking room with two full beds. To reserve a room as part of this block, call 1-800-544-4866 and say that you'd like to reserve a room as part of the Wheeler-Falconer wedding group. If you prefer fancier accommodations, there are a few hotels right next to the Motel 6 midtown that offer nicer stays for higher prices. Last we checked, the Crowne Plaza Anchorage Midtown could be reserved for $270 per night and the Fairfield Inn and Suites could be reserved for $360 per night. These hotels are about a $25 lyft/uber ride from the venue. We would encourage you to look at your options when thinking of where to stay - it's possible to find an Air BnB or a VRBO at similar rates. You could potentially find cheaper rates - we saw rates as low as $80 per night on Hotels.com, but those tended to be farther from the venue and much lower in quality.
Hotel
We've reserved a block of rooms at this hotel that is about a 15 minute ride from the venue. The block is reserved for the nights of the 12th and the 13th, though you could choose to book only one of those nights if you prefer. The block rate is $160 per night for a non-smoking room with two full beds. You can cancel your reservation up to 3 days in advance of your stay at no charge to you. To reserve a room in our block, call 1-800-544-4866 and say that you would like to reserve a room as part of the Wheeler-Falconer wedding group.
Travel Note
Rental cars can be really expensive in Anchorage this time of year. If you are only interested in attending wedding-related functions, you should be able to get around with Lyft/Uber/cabs. But if you want to explore the area, it would be a good idea to rent a car (this is especially true if you want to hike, as the best trails are on the Hillside, an area of town that cabs/etc. may be less inclined to go). You can find cheaper cars via car-sharing websites like Turo. If you want a traditional car rental, Midnight Sun Car and Van Rental (https://ineedacarrental.com/) is a local rental business that tends to offer cheaper prices than the national chains.
