Renting a Car? Be careful!

We do not recommend renting a car. Driving and parking is very difficult in Granada. Transportation to and from events can be easily arranged. Uber is super easy there. Taxis are fairly easy, you just need to know where the taxi stands are (vs just hailing one down on any street corner). There are buses, but MOST importantly, the city is extremely walkable! All our events and activities are in 15 min walk radius in the Albycin neighborhood,

Flight

Flight Deals from USA to Malaga, Madrid or Barcelona Spain

The best routes will be a round trip to Malaga, Madrid, or Barcelona, then a connecting flight, train, taxi or shuttle to Granada. Try Google Flight Search, SkyScanner, or free alerts from Scott’s Cheap Flights for best deals from the states to Spain. Kyle and I booked our flights from Chicago for $500 round trip each through Madrid.

Flight from Madrid / Barcelona to Granada

For the connecting flights from Madrid or Barcelona, round trip tickets to Granada are less than 100 USD. Go to Sky Scanner and search the day and time that makes the most sense based on when you arrive / depart Madrid or Barcelona.

Travel Note

Bus from the Granada Airport to City Center / Albayzin Neighborhood

There is a bus service from the airport to the city whose cost is 3€. The nearest stop to the Albayzin neighborhood (where most of the hotels and Airbnbs that guests will be) is the Gran Via’s Street1, at the Cathedral level. From there it could be a 2-15 minute walk from the bus stop to your hotel, house or apartment in Albayzin.

Taxi from Granada Airport to City Center / Albayzin Neighborhood

The price between airport-city center is around 25-30 euros. At the airport, you can get guest services to help connect you to a taxi. Have the address and contact info for the hotel / Airbnb host written down and handy to show the taxi driver, so you do not have to translate. A helpful tip is to connect your phone to the wifi at the airport and enable GPS tracking. Even without cell service, most smart phones will allow you to see your location on the apple or google maps on your phone, so that you can track your route from the airport to your lodging location while on the drive.
