While our story didn't begin with an organic "boy meets girl" scenario or play out like the fairytales, it is one of comfort, overcoming, understanding and most importantly, love. Our relationship began with a single swipe right on Bumble and Whitney's standard go-to ice breaker of "Serious question, tacos or pizza?" Though Whitney admits she can't remember the answer Aaron gave, she does remember the kind and sweet smile of a man who spoke proudly of his 5 year-old daughter. After a week of talking through the app, we agreed to take the conversation offline and to Norton's and the hockey rink to watch a Thunder game. Despite Aaron being given an interrogation FBI style by Whitney on his role as a dad and his expectations of a relationship (should one foster), Aaron asked Whitney on a second date. In the dates that followed, our chemistry and connection could not be ignored and within three weeks, we agreed to make it official and Whitney met Harper a few months later. Fast forward to May 2022, after 14 months of dating, Aaron and Harper moved in with Whitney AND brought home our Golden Retriever, Benson, that same day (I think we can all guess whose idea this belonged to). We won't say it was easy but over the next year of living together, it became more and more clear on the powerhouse team we made together. Through conflicts, obstacles, laughter and fun, our relationship continued to grow stronger with a foundation of communication, compromise, love and patience (most of the time). Finally, in June 2023, the next chapter in our story began. On a vacation to Sedona, AZ, Whitney and Aaron decided to do a hike to Devil's Ridge, starting at 4am with 4.25miles and 500ft of elevation to climb. Around 5:20am, Aaron and Whitney made it to Devil's Bridge where Aaron asked Whitney to marry him as the sun rose and two strangers witnessed (and record the moment). After years of heartache, trials, and failed relationships, we finally found our perfect match in one another and are beyond excited to start our futures together as a family of three.
