Evan lived on the Big Island of Hawaii. Amber was born and raised in Southern California. Evan had been living in Oahu for the past 10 years. Amber had just moved to Hawaii. It just so happened that they had mutual friends and were all planning to meet up a few days after she arrived. That's when Amber & Evan met on the side of the road at a popular north shore surf spot, Laniakea, and started an immediate friendship. The next day, Evan's friends were filming a moped commercial. They needed a group of people to star in the commercial and cruise around the island on mopeds. So Amber, Evan and a group of their friends headed out on a day of mopeding and exploring the island. Evan instantly fell in love with her; from her contagious laugh to the way she never stopped smiling. They were inseparable ever since. Evan had taught Amber how to dive like a fish and Amber introduced Evan to her love of traveling the world. They practically swam/surfed around the entire island and hiked almost every trail on Oahu. As their friendship grew stronger, so did their feelings for each other. Amber quickly fell in love with Evan; from his goofy personality to his adventurous spirit. A few months of endless laughter and countless adventures later, Evan eventually worked up the courage to ask Amber to be his girlfriend. And so their official life together began; continuing to adventure around Hawaii islands as well as around the world from California, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Mexico, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Philippines, Thailand, Canada, and numerous other destinations.
Fast forward 5 years. Evan had been wanting to propose to Amber for the past 4 years. But needed to patiently... very patiently... wait for the right time. Finally, he decided 2017 was going to be the perfect year and began to set things in motion. He first spilled the beans to Amber's sisters, Ally & Ashley, while home in LA for Christmas of 2016. After getting their blessing, he quickly purchased the ring in January. After numerous failed attempts to pull Amber's parents' aside (Evan chickened out a few times; it was extremely nerve-racking! And it was even more difficult figuring out how to sneak away long enough without Amber becoming suspicious), Evan finally found the perfect moment. They flew home to California for 4th of July. It was then that he finally asked Amber's parents, Ed & Rose, for their blessing to marry their daughter. It was a success!
August 25, 2017. The big day has finally arrived. Evan's good friend, Lissa, is a wedding coordinator in Oahu. So they set up a fake photoshoot in which she had asked Evan & Amber to be the models; It's very common for Amber to be asked to stand in for video & photoshoots. The perfect cover story. Meanwhile, Amber's family had flown into Hawaii for the engagement a few days before. They had been hiding out in Waikiki until the big day. Lanikuhonua (in Hawaiian, translates to "where the Heavens meet the Earth") Evan & Amber arrive to Lanikuhonua in Ko Olina; Greeted by Lissa at the gate and whisked off by the photographer & videographer. They were then pulled away for individual photos (Evan actually just went in the back to set up with the family & nervously prepare to pop the question). Just your typical day. But as the sun began to set, the photographer distracted Amber by posing her for photos. Evan snuck up behind Amber. Bent down on one knee. And with all the built up nerves finally escaping his breath, Evan asked Amber what she was doing for the rest of her life... and Amber answered, "Duh, of course!" Now they ask you to join them on the next phase of this story. They can't wait to celebrate their marriage in paradise with all of you for a fun-filled week of sun, sand, and mai tais as they continue to look forward to #wherEvBerLifeTakesUs in the future.
