Lake Harriet
An outdoors favourite of ours. A wonderful lake with paddleboats and canoes for hire, complete with a small lake beach for swimming, a restaurant with food, ice cream, and beer, a rose garden, a Japanese garden, and a bandshell with local music.
Como Park Zoo & Conservatory
Open year-round with free admission, Como Zoo features a variety of animals from around the world, beautiful gardens, and the stunning Marjorie McNeely Conservatory. Perfect for a day out, visitors can enjoy animal exhibits, seasonal events, and picturesque picnic spots, making it an ideal spot for both relaxation and adventure in the heart of the city.
Cathedral of Saint Paul
The Lord of the Rings but make it a Cathedral. The Cathedral of Saint Paul in St. Paul is an iconic landmark that showcases magnificent Beaux-Arts architecture. Perched on Cathedral Hill, this grand church features a majestic copper dome, stunning stained glass windows, and intricate interior decorations. Visitors can take a guided tour to learn about its rich history, attend a service, and walk around the colossal cathedral.
Basilica of Saint Mary
The Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis is a stunning architectural gem and the first basilica established in the United States. Located in the heart of the city, this historic church offers breathtaking beauty with its intricate design and inspiring art. The music team utilises the pipe organ at most Masses, making this a top Mass location.
Minneapolis Institute of Art
Shockingly good art collection with free entry, to include Van Gogh, Monet, Rembrandt, and more. Fun fact: Nick and Megan used to live two blocks from here! Located in the heart of Minneapolis, this renowned museum features over 90,000 artworks, including masterpieces from ancient civilizations, contemporary pieces, and everything in between. Visitors can explore beautifully curated exhibits, participate in engaging educational programs, or simply enjoy the serene atmosphere of the museum’s grand galleries.

St. Paul Saints Baseball Club
We have been to many Saint Paul Saints baseball games, and they are a particular favorite of Nick. Its a Minor League team but with a very nice stadium with very nice beer. Minor League games are much more low key, much more relaxed, and have a lot more beer options for much more fair prices than Major League Games.

Valleyfair
The classic Pumper family amusement park. Free for veterans and military on Memorial Day! Valleyfair, located just outside of Minneapolis, is Minnesota’s premier amusement park offering fun for the whole family. With thrilling roller coasters like the Steel Venom and the wooden rollercoaster Renegade, plus a variety of rides and attractions for all ages, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The park also features a water park with wave pools, lazy rivers, and exciting water slides, perfect for cooling off on a sunny day.
Stillwater
A favorite date spot of ours! Downtown Stillwater is a charming and historic riverfront area known for its picturesque beauty and vibrant atmosphere. Nestled along the St. Croix River valley, it features a variety of local stores such as 50s classic American diners, Black Letter Books, Trembleys homemade candy shop, and more. Visitors can stroll along the scenic riverwalk, explore these unique shops, and enjoy seasonal events. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day by the water or a lively evening out, downtown Stillwater offers something for everyone.
Rustic Roots Winery
A fav winery of ours. MN has a lot of wineries like this, and they are relaxing spaces to spend a spring evening on a patio with a glass of wine and a beautiful Minnesota sunset.

Duluth
Duluth, located on the shores of Lake Superior, is a vibrant city known for its stunning natural beauty, rich history, harbor, and lively craft beer scene. North Shore Scenic Drive
It's a whole thing, look it up or follow the link for recommended routes and pair into a trip in Duluth. Is there anything more American or Midwestern than a scenic road trip? This is a Wege family favorite, so if you need any camping/hiking ideas, ask a Wege.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
If you are flying in and want to see prime Minnesota nature, this is the best. Our wedding will be the best time of the year to visit. With pristine lakes, dense forests, and abundant wildlife, go canoeing, fishing, hiking, camping, and even some lakeside rock climbing above the lakes in the massive USA-Canada borderlands. No need to backpack: carry your camping gear on your canoes or kayaks. Just dont approach the moose or bears, or accidentally wander into Canada and get caught by the Canadian border police who regularly paddle through. If this interests you but dont have any pals in the area, ask us (Nick and Megan) and we find you a group that will be going. Chances are, if you get along with us, you'll get along with our friends. Nick and Megan lore: This is where Nick's parents met in the 80s. It is also the popular camping spot of multiple bridal party members to include Noah Schmelzer and Joe Arend. Joe even did winter trip here, camping in negative zero degrees F.
