Steven and Jenna met in the summer of 2009 at a local bar, Howeys. Steven was a bar-back / server and Jenna was hired to hand-letter a chalkboard with weekly specials as well as host on the weekends. Although, a few years apart in age, they quickly bonded with help of their mutual friend and co-worker Erica. Steven and Jenna's relationship started out as a friendship as they bonded over their love of music, hanging out with close friends, celebrating holidays (especially Halloween) and anything funny. The two loved to make each other laugh. Somewhere along the way their friendship morphed into more. The friendship progressed to spending every day together and that eventually led them to moving in together in the summer of 2011. They've been together ever since.

Steven asked Jenna to the movies to go see Halloween 2. The original Halloween movie is one of their favorite ways to celebrate the season. For a couple who rarely attends movies, this was a must see for them. Like most engagements Jenna had little to no clue that this particular Saturday was going to be the night Steven proposed. Steven invited their mutual friend Erica to help pull off the surprise. Jenna also invited Erica. She invited her to go with them and was unaware that she already accepted Steven's invitation. In Jenna's mind Erica accepted Jenna's invitation. Jenna had no suspicion of anything so life changing ahead of her. At the movie theater the three took their seats. With drink and popcorn in lap they settled in to watch the movie. Through out the movie each person had their share of emotions. Steven watched the movie as best as he could but had bigger things on his mind. Jenna watched the movie with great enjoyment but did notice Steven was kind of fidgety. Erica watched the movie, but mainly watched Steven. Later Erica mentioned both (Steven and the movie) were entertaining. The movie ended and the lights turned on. Erica acted as she was getting up to leave. Steven stood up to "leave", but quickly went down onto one knee... Erica took out her phone and started recording the moment. Jenna looked at Steven confused and asked "what are you doing"? And then Steven pulled out a sparkly diamond ring. At this point Jenna lost it. There was so much shock, emotion, and a little ugly crying all mixed up into one moment. Jenna doesn't even know what was really said except for one line, "Will you spend every Halloween with me?".... Steven had to confirm her answer with another question "Is that a yes?" Her answer was a yes, but she couldn't speak from the shock and surprise. She confirmed his answer with a nod, a big hug and kiss! October 20, 2018 is the date the couple got engaged and became the first official anniversary date the couple has ever had.
