"and the two shall become one"

On 1/31/2019, Courtney and Bobby met for their first date in St. Augustine, FL. The two struggled through their dinner conversation, not due to lack of interest, but thanks to a band just 10 feet from their table. Dinner led to a stroll and a better heard conversation along the blistery intercoastal. Despite busy careers, Courtney a Veterinarian and Bobby a Naval Aviator, and the 80 mile distance between, this night led to a love even better than both had unceasingly prayed for. They both shared a deep passion for their Catholic faith and also realized Bobby and Courtney’s brother attended the same parish. Taking Bobby by surprise, he received an invite to Courtney’s God-Daughter’s Baptism three short days after date #1, now commonly referred to as “date #2.” Being thrust into meeting most of her family on date #2 and undoubtedly overwhelmed, Bobby managed to mix up Courtney’s two brothers and even became an unofficial photographer for the event. They enjoyed weekend get-a-ways to Jupiter, FL for Whelan family boating excursions and to Pittsburgh, PA for Steel City exploring with Bobby’s parents. Trips to Savannah allowed Bobby and Courtney to grow as a couple and enriched their spiritual lives. It was there that Courtney met Father Jean Luc (Clint), a childhood friend and spiritual guide to Bobby, who later messaged Bobby asking how long it would take him to propose to her. In July 2019, Bobby was reassigned to Whidbey Island, WA. By God’s grace, he was then selected to attend an instructor course back in Jacksonville in October. Near completion of the course, Bobby arranged a trip to Savannah. Little did Courtney know that both of their parents would be traveling to the same place on the same weekend. On 11/9/2019, Bobby proposed to Courtney in the magnificent Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, GA by the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in front of their parents, Fr. Clint, and God.
