Anyone that knows Jordan probably also knows that a huge portion of his life has been dedicated to the sport of basketball (*see link below* - a necessary embarrassment) It’s really no surprise then that basketball was the catalyst for our star-crossed love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxU55f6JxBc We won’t delve into the details that went into my decision to be a cheerleader in high school- we just need to know that it happened. And let me preface this by saying I didn’t *always* spend my time checking out the players on the opposing team- sometimes I cheered with adequacy. But I will openly admit that the night we played J's HS he'd caught my attention from the onset. So much so that I’d even made it a point to mention how cute he was to a ‘once-trusted’ fellow cheerleader. It goes without saying that within a week’s time word had traveled from the sideline all the way to Jordan’s school- quickly falling upon his ears. We ended up dating that summer. But as the school year approached Jordan was anticipating the recruiting demands for college basketball, I was transitioning to a new school, & we were both going our own way…okay, this is the part where I spare you the formalities & tell you that he *literally* dumped me for basketball (audacious, am I right?!) We kept in touch off-and-on through college (usually when UNCG played VMI & I wanted to talk smack) but we were both relatively certain we were going to marry the people we were dating at the time. And before you deem that an awkward thing to say, I need you to know- that's the beauty in this story. As much as we’d like to take credit for it, this story is really about God’s overwhelming & undeserved love for us. The depth at which His love met us in the hopelessness of our situations, the intervention He held with us individually, & the orchestration of something far greater than we could’ve ever asked for. That is the love we hope to share with each of you- we are truly blessed beyond measure.
