We met in college through Melissa's best friend. We had lots of mutual friends, but weren't close and never dated. Fast forward almost 10 years - Andy popped up on Bumble. After a "Whoa - I know that guy!" moment, Melissa sent him a Facebook message but didn't really expect a reply. Turns out, Andy doesn't use Facebook...like, at all. Somehow she got lucky and he saw it. Melissa was living in Portland at the time, and Andy was living in Seattle. We got lunch about a month later, and the rest is history! We did long distance for a couple of years before Melissa made the move to Seattle. We've been together for almost 5 years!

Andy had the day off from work, and Melissa was taking a half day. We decided we'd take a day trip. Andy was supposed to figure out where we should go, but dropped the ball (you had one job!). Melissa ended up picking a park on Camano Island last minute. We walked along the beach, combing for rocks and shells (we're nerds) before heading back to do a short hike. Melissa got distracted by a bee on a flower and started taking pictures (did we mention we're nerds?). She felt a tap on her waist and turned around to find Andy on one knee. Fun fact: Andy never actually asked - he simply announced that he wanted Melissa to marry him. Melissa pretty much blacked out, and never actually answered. Good thing we were both on the same page!
