Manitou Springs is the next town over and right at the base of Pikes Peak. It's full of quaint shops and is a great place to leisurely stroll, enjoy the view, people watch and grab some souvenirs. There's multiple Native American jewelry shops, restaurants, trails and parks. Make sure to take a cup or water bottle to try a taste of the 8 natural springs! Parking can be particularly difficult to find in the Summer and on the weekends. There are free shuttles that depart from a visitor parking center at 10 Old Mans Trail. If you plan on checking out Pikes Peak via the Cog Railway, you'll be departing from Manitou as well.
Just a 5 minute drive from Manitou Springs lies the gem of our city! An absolute must-see if this is your first time visiting Colorado Springs. The park has free entry from dawn til dusk but can get quite busy during the Summer season. We'd recommend driving through in the early morning. Keep your eyes peeled for Big Horn Sheep!
Visit America's Mountain! Pikes Peak via the Cog Railway for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was atop our local peak that Katherine Lee Bates wrote the iconic "America the Beautiful." If you're lucky enough to take in the views from the summit, you'll immediately understand why. This is a great family adventure which takes about 3hrs roundtrip.
For those staying in town a bit longer, this day trip is an absolutely SPECTACULAR Colorado experience! About an hours drive South West of Colorado Springs is Canyon City. Home to the Royal Gorge Train and the world's highest suspension bridge. Many great family activities here with breathtaking views everywhere you look.
