Wes and Meg first met a small party at Meg's mom & stepdad's house in April 2017. Wes was there with a couple of mutual friends who were trying to set them up. Wes instantly was smitten, but wasn't able to talk to Meg much because her friends kept talking to her. They said goodnight - Meg tried to play coy by telling Wes to get her number from their friend, which Wes interpreted as her not being interested! Notably, Meg invited Wes to her birthday party the next month, which he ignored. Things were not looking great for Wes and Meg. Then, one year later, the mutual friends, Amanda and Corby, were getting married. Meg saw Wes as a groomsman and thought how handsome he was. At the reception, chance would have it that Meg spent a large amount of time at Wes's family's table, getting to know many of the Hubbard traditions (anyone have a knife?). Their paths crossed near the fire place, listening to the music. They finally had a chance to talk. Wes showed Meg all the wonderful pictures of Colorado, where he would be moving to at the end of the month. Her heart fell, but at the same time, his sense of adventure drew her in more. Later that month, Wes and Meg went out with a group of friends. There, the sparks flew. Wes and Meg became a team, beating others in darts, talking alone, and thinking about how they would spend Wes's last week in California. Meg was starting to fall for him. She suggested grabbing dinner at a pub near her place. What she thought would be a short goodbye dinner turned into hours and hours of talking. She was not ready to let this amazing, sweet, smart man go. Meg even offered to drive with him to Colorado! She didn't make it to Colorado with him then, but less than a week after Wes moved, they met "halfway" in Las Vegas. After that, whether it was meeting *actually* halfway in Utah, Meg flying to CO, or Wes flying to CA, they saw each other every 2-3 weeks for 6 months, before Wes finally moved back to California to be with Meg.
