This is the wedding venue! Guests attending the wedding can explore the botanic garden grounds for free the day of the wedding during operating hours (starting at 9AM). Photo: Weston and Erica visiting the garden the day they decided this would be where they'd get married <3
This is one of our favorite places to grab a cocktail. Our favorite drink is the "Spirited Away", which gets bonus points for being a pun and a great movie. Bar Botanico is in Lawrenceville where there are plenty of other things to do too! Photo: Erica and her mom, Kristen, enjoying the aforementioned favorite cocktail.
Whether you are a bird fan or not, this place is worth a trip. Make sure you sign up for a Lorikeet feeding! Photo: A small burrowing owl perched in its habitat at the aviary.
This is not where we are getting married, but another spectacular botanical garden in the Pittsburgh area. Who knew the city of Steel would have so many ways to appreciate nature?! Photo: Weston and Erica posing in the greenhouse.
The Carnegie family had $$$, which means this museum is absolutely stacked. Erica's favorite section is the rock exhibit and Weston's favorite is the dinosaur exhibit. Photo: Bridesmaid, Lamia, and Weston posing with a lion at the museum.
Not recommended if you have a fear of heights. If you make it to the top, be sure to head downstairs to see the machinery that runs this historic hillside elevator. Photo: Weston and Bridesbro, John, appreciating the drive wheel of the incline.
This incline is a bit closer to the hotel than the Duquesne incline. While it is Erica's second favorite (since it lacks the machinery museum that the Duquesne incline offers) it is a great way to get the incline experience! Photo: Erica and bridesbro, John, on the incline. (Yes we did ride both inclines in one day!)
Erica and Weston's home coffee shop. They do great brunch on the weekends, and have night time cocktails. If you're a coffee connoisseur, this is the place for you! You can drive there or take the red line T from Station Square to Mt. Lebanon. Photo: Bridesmaid, Eva, and Erica waiting for their espresso martinis at Orbis one spring evening.
We cannot stress enough how delicious this food is. This is near the Mattress Factory, a really cool contemporary art museum in Pittsburgh's North side. Photo: This is a photo of the inside from google. We've always been too hungry to pause to snap a photo when we've visited.
Great stop going to/from the airport! Photo: Erica and her bridesbro, John, wearing their matching flannels at Carnegie Coffee Company.
Vegan Eastern European food, cooked with a lot of love. If you don't feel like waiting in line, go right when they open or closer to closing time! Photo: Erica at Apteka for Weston's 27th birthday dinner after attending an exciting Penguin's hockey game.
This is a taco stand outside our local grocery store. The best tacos in the Northeast. Photo: Weston, Erica, and their friend Chris at Las Palmas enjoying some succulent tacos.
We went here for the annual Festival of Combustion, which celebrates Pittsburgh's steel-making heritage. Needless to say, we had a blast. You can reserve tickets for in-depth historical tours of the facility on their website. Photo: Fireworks at the blast furnace during the Festival of Combustion.
Pittsburgh's go-to department store in the early 20th century was Kaufmann's. The owner of Kaufmann's wanted a weekend retreat and hired Frank Lloyd Wright to design Fallingwater. Erica, Weston, and his parents visited Fallingwater last spring and then spent the rest of the day walking around Ohiopyle just down the road. It's a beautiful part of the state and about an hour and a half drive from Pittsburgh. Photo: THE picturesque view of the Bear Run stream that made the Kaufmanns want to build there.
