How we met

Wes and Katy’s love story began as all the best ones do—wild, unexpected, and entirely inevitable. For years at Emory University, they drifted through the same spaces, moving in parallel, their paths brushing so closely it was almost cruel that they hadn’t yet collided. But the universe is patient, and fate always gets its way. It waited until Katy’s 21st birthday to finally pull them together, setting off a spark that neither of them fully understood at the time—but one that would never burn out. A month later, under the electric sky of a music festival, that spark turned into something undeniable. Katy—adventurous, untamed, and now completely blind from a scratched cornea—vanished into a sea of people. Wes didn’t hesitate. He charged back into the crowd, unshaken, undeterred, and somehow, against all odds, he found her. When he took her hand in his—steady, certain—he never let go. And in that moment, whether he realized it or not, he had already become her knight, her anchor, her home. Their final year at Emory was a golden blur of effortless companionship and inevitable gravity. They stretched out on Dan’s back deck, pretending to study but mostly just existing together in that rare, perfect way that feels like breathing. At night, they cruised through the city in Dan’s Mustang, music humming through the air, roof down, hearts open. They spent a year in a rhythm all their own—concerts, road trips, shared silences, and unspoken understandings. And then, as life often does, it sent them in different directions. Katy moved to California. Wes to New York. Their timing was wrong, but the story wasn’t over. Fate—persistent and delightfully smug—waited.

Falling in Love

Years later, in the vast, sun-drenched majesty of Zion National Park, fate made its next move. With Dan once again as its unwitting accomplice, Wes and Katy found themselves standing side by side, their paths no longer diverging but folding into each other. Underneath towering cliffs and endless sky, something long-dormant stirred. The space between what was and what could be vanished. This time, they didn’t let go. Katy moved to Brooklyn—not for Wes, of course. Wes moved to New Orleans, then back to Brooklyn—very much for Katy. Together, they built something effortless and unbreakable. They adopted Steve, a cat with the ego of an emperor and the entitlement of a god. Then came Lana, who puts on a saintly act but, in truth, is a self-indulgent mush, demanding belly rubs like a benevolent queen. And then, the world stopped. They faced one of the greatest tests of love—a global pandemic, a city frozen in time, and only 700 square feet of space to call their own. The fire escape became their balcony, their refuge, their only connection to the outside world. But inside those walls, something unshakable was forged. They danced in their tiny kitchen. They whispered dreams across pillowcases. They learned that love—real, enduring, laugh-through-the-chaos love—doesn’t need space to grow. It just needs two people who refuse to let go. From there, life took them on a journey as big as their love. They moved to Boston, chasing dreams and boarding planes, saying yes to adventure because what’s the point of love if not to see the world together?

Today and Beyond

And now, here they are—partners, adventurers, best friends, and the great loves of each other’s lives. Today, Wes, Katy, Lana, and Steve move between Atlanta and Midland, but home has never been about a place—it’s wherever they are, together. They wander through dog beaches, chasing sunsets and salt air. They lose themselves in botanical gardens, surrounded by colors as bright as the life they’ve built. They pull off the highway for roadside oddities, because who wouldn’t want to see the world’s biggest ball of twine? And now, they’ve planted their roots. In Atlanta, they are building something permanent—a home filled with warmth and laughter. Katy bakes, filling their kitchen with the taste of comfort and love. Wes fixes things, steady as ever, turning their house into a home, one well-placed nail at a time. Their love is a journey and a destination. It is quiet devotion and thunderous joy. It is laughter echoing through road trips, whispered conversations in the dark, and the unwavering promise that through every twist and turn, they will always, always find their way back to each other. And though their story has already been full of adventure, the best part is just beginning.
