Our Love Story

Melanie & Wes met in 2018 while working together at a bar in Scottsdale, both 21 and unknowingly standing at the beginning of the life they would one day build together. Wes had just returned from the Marines, Melanie was in aesthetics school, and what began as an easy friendship became the kind of connection that anchors itself into everyday life. They talked about everything, leaned on each other without hesitation, and slipped into a rhythm that felt natural long before either thought to call it love. For years their friendship grew quietly but steadily, built on shared shifts, late nights, and a constant presence in each other's lives. Wes later admitted he used to enter through the front of the bar just to say hello to Melanie, while she remembers thinking he was impossibly cute and effortlessly kind. There was comfort there from the start, a familiarity neither rushed but both protected. Their first date almost didn't happen out of respect for that friendship. Wes never wanted to risk losing what they already had, and for a long time neither crossed the line. That changed one Friday night when Melanie, armed with just enough liquid courage, walked up to him and asked, "So when the heck are you taking me on a date?!" By Tuesday he was picking her up for their first date, talking for hours the way only two people can when they already know each other deeply but suddenly see everything in a new light. That night Wes typed a note into his phone: "I think I just went on a date with the girl I'm going to marry." From then on, their relationship wasn't casual. It was intentional. One of their favorite memories is a late night watching Monsters Inc. In the middle of Melanie singing along and making him laugh, they both had the same realization: this is my person. No grand declaration, just the certainty that home wasn't a place anymore, it was each other. In 2019 Wes brought home a German Shepherd puppy named Atticus, whom Melanie met during those early bar days. By 2022, when they moved in together, Atticus was already woven into their story and the little family took shape. They left nightlife side by side and stepped into careers that reflected the future they were building with intention and clarity. Through loss and hard seasons, they never stopped operating as a team. When one didn't have enough to give, the other filled the space. Their partnership is rooted in balance, loyalty, and the quiet confidence of knowing they are strongest together. On May 11, 2025, exactly four years after their first date, Wes proposed on a quiet beach on Oahu at sunset. Melanie had no idea it was coming. Wes spoke heartfelt words before asking her to marry him, and in disbelief she dropped to her knees hugging him, both laughing as their legs felt like jello while she realized she hadn't said yes yet. The answer was never in question. Today they live in Arcadia with their puppies Atticus & Penny, building a life that feels steady and deeply joyful. Wes works alongside his father in wealth management, Melanie dedicates her days to family and caring for her grandfather, and together they fill their time with travel, long conversations, and simply being side by side. They remain best friends above everything, a partnership that feels peaceful even in motion. They look toward marriage with excitement not just for the wedding but for the decades that follow: growing old together, building a big family, becoming parents and grandparents, and choosing one another through every chapter. Marriage to them is sacred, a covenant built on loyalty, faith, and the promise to keep showing up as teammates in every season of life. After all these years of friendship and love, they still feel the same truth they recognized in the middle of a silly movie song: they are home with each other. And fittingly, it all leads back to the place that feels like home: Hawaii. They are endlessly grateful to celebrate this chapter surrounded by the people they love most!
