Abby was living in Seattle with her friend and former PT classmate, Jenny, and enjoying happy hours after their work day at Harborview Medical center along with Jenny’s friend, Elisha. Wes was living in Seattle, finishing up an Acute Care Certification to add to his Nurse Practitioner's degree while also flying up to work in Kotzebue, Alaska every other month. When Abby and Jenny decided to throw a party, some of Elisha’s friends made the list and Wes was among them. Despite Wes’ first impression that Abby walked into her apartment and immediately microwaved leftover fish (Abby maintains it wasn’t her fault she had just gotten home from work, wanted dinner, and she wasn’t going to change her plan just because a handsome stranger was on her couch) something was in the air (besides fish) because they both had the thought to try to see each other again. They saw each other out and about at friend’s shows and bars but it took a camping trip with friends for them to really connect. After spending a long weekend floating the Yakima river Wes asked Abby out on a date. The first date turned into seeing each other every time Wes was back from Alaska and staying in touch when he was gone. When the pandemic hit they decided to stay in each other’s bubbles which turned into buying a house and putting down roots together in Seattle. Wes proposed to Abby last June while they were sailing in the Puget Sound on a friend’s boat. Wes had spoken to Abby’s parents beforehand, but hadn’t told anyone on the boat what he was planning. Although half of the crew thought they had seen a whale it was, in fact, Wes proposing and Abby saying an emphatic yes. After five years together we are so excited to celebrate our love and marriage to each other with you!
