We may not totally agree on how we first met, but we both agree it was at some point during orientation at the College of Charleston. Hannah remembers spotting the boy from California, while JT remembers trying (and failing) to impress three tall blonde track recruits with a joke. Regardless of how we met, what matters is that a couple of days later, we were neighbors in the dorms, and a fire drill officially introduced us. From there, our friendship grew naturally. Whether it was JT showing up at Hannah’s door to be a nuisance, or Hannah stopping by to vent about the latest track team drama, we always found ourselves talking each other’s ears off. Morning bagel runs before class became a routine and by the end of freshman year, we were close friends. Over summer break, late-night phone calls became the norm. Once sophomore year rolled around, it was clear we were dating (even thought JT never officially asked Hannah out). What followed was one shared adventure after another. From spontaneous road trips around the South to long days at the beach, we really got to grow together. JT often claims his college degree should have Hannah’s name on it (and he’s probably right), because she helped him navigate classes and studying with just the right mix of encouragement and eye-rolls. Since graduating, we’ve taken on a lot - moving, new jobs, and a year-long journey through Latin America. We now live in Nashville, where life is full of good music, exploration, and mediocre bagels. JT still makes Hannah laugh, and Hannah keeps JT out of trouble. We’re each other’s favorite teammates - and now we’re so excited to make this team official.
