This is one of our favorite stories, which has a million background stories, so we are sticking with the elevator version: In 2013, Erica was a sister of Sigma Kappa and Shane was a brother of Kappa Alpha Order at West Virginia University (Let’s Go Mountaineers!). Erica was campaigning for Kappa Alpha’s sweetheart and she introduced herself to Shane at a KA BBQ (side note.... Shane was sitting next to Ryan Boyer... who will be standing next to Shane as his Best Man [insert the awwww moment!]). After Erica was titled Sweetheart, she was always spending time at the KA house. Shane and Erica grew to become very close friends and, over time, inseparable. Shane officially asked Erica to be his girlfriend a few months later!

We know we said the “How We Met” story was one of our favorites, but the "How He Asked” is definitely a close tie: Shane proposed on March 13th, 2020 at the Moshulu – a historic boat that overlooks the Philadelphia skyline. The Moshulu is an extremely sentimental and special place to Erica and her family, so the thought Shane put into choosing this location meant the absolute world to Erica. Shane met Erica at the front of the boat and brought her out onto the boat deck, where a stunning sight of roses, candles, and a lit sign saying “MARRY ME” was waiting. Shane got down on one knee and asked Erica to marry him, and of course...she said ‘YES’ (duh!)! The plan was then to go out for dinner to celebrate, but when Erica arrived at the “dinner” spot, it turned out to be an Airbnb that Shane had rented with a surprise party waiting! As Erica walked in and everyone screamed “SURPRISE”, Erica and Shane found themselves surrounded by all of their dearest and closest friends. As someone started to play “Marry You” by Bruno Mars, all of their closest guy friends proceeded down the staircase to hug Erica and hand her a rose. Needless to say, Erica ugly cried and was absolutely speechless (... let's be real... that doesn't happen often!) Erica and Shane spent the rest of the weekend with all of their friends who had traveled in for the surprise and celebration!
