Dear Family & Friends, As a couple hosting a large event, we recognize our responsibility to your safety and the safety of those in higher-risk groups in our communities. We postponed our April wedding due to these challenging, uncertain times. Our new date is Sunday, September 13th 2020! Same place, same plan (with a 5:00pm start time) - different day. Watch for a 'save our new date' notice with a fresh RSVP request (sorry to ask you to do this twice) in the form of an e-mail or a text (depending on what info we have for you)! We love you all and can't wait to celebrate with you!
Looking for love online was a new idea for the both of us. At 23 and 28, we were out of college, working, and trying to meet new people. A nudge from our friends and family led us to Match.com. It took two messages from Ryan before Jessica replied, he's persistent! We learned that we lived nearly an hour apart; so after about a week of talking, we decided to meet halfway at RA sushi in North Scottsdale. We couldn’t help but laugh when we showed up to our first date, our shirts matching in the exact same shade of green. Between the saki and Ryan’s fondness for the sound of his own voice, there certainly wasn’t any awkward silence! Jessica was able to get in a few words from time to time and before we knew it, we’d been there for nearly 5 hours. The fun continued the next weekend when Ryan invited Jessica to join him at Oktoberfest in Tempe. Not only did she get to meet two of his friends, but Ryan's parents joined them for the day as well. A little unconventional for a second date but Roger and Sandy are a great time! Ryan spent Thanksgiving with Jessica's family that year as his parents were out of town. There were games, laughing, pumpkin pie smashing, and probably too much drinking. Ryan knew he would fit in just fine. We still enjoy sushi dates and it’s become tradition for us to attend Oktoberfest each year. From family cruises, to wine tasting in Sedona, it's the little things along the way that remind us of how our journey began.
Thanksgiving 2014 was the first holiday we spent together as a couple and four years later, that same holiday marked another milestone for us (we only realized the correlation after the fact). Jessica had her suspicions that Ryan might propose but never expected it when he actually did. Our dating anniversary is in October, so as the date approached, Jessica suspected that there might be a surprise . . . On another occasion, Ryan planned a spontaneous date night . . . We were hosting Thanksgiving this year so both of our family's came over and spent the afternoon with us. As we sat down to have dinner, Ryan suggested that we open a bottle of wine (thinking nothing of it as this is a norm for us) Jessica reached for the bottle that was on the table. As she turned the bottle, the label caught her eye . . . 'Let's share this bottle of wine and the rest of our lives. Will you marry me?' Ryan dropped to one knee and with our families by our side, we were engaged!
