Abby & Nathan were in the same group of friends in middle school & high school, although they didn't speak much until Mr. Lee's Geography class during their freshman year of high school. Abby quickly developed a crush and began finding excuses to text Nathan--typically asking for help on her Geography homework (& she could use all the help she could get with that subject). That friendship soon turned into a mutual crush, and neither of them thought it would lead to where they are today.

On April 12, 2013 Nathan asked Abby to be his girlfriend, and a few weeks later they went on their first official "date" after Abby tried to avoid it because she was nervous... They went to the movie theater to see the movie "42", and their relationship slowly grew stronger.

Nathan told Abby that he planned a weekend getaway to celebrate his residency graduation, but little did she know, it was to celebrate their engagement. They spent the weekend near Greenville, SC. On July 1st, 2024, Nathan and Abby got up early for a sunrise hike at Table Rock State Park. He made Abby work for that ring by hiking 7+ miles roundtrip, but it was more than worth it when he got down on one knee at the summit of their hike and asked her to be his wife!
