If you ask Coleman and Jasmine about how they met, they may tell you two different tales of the same night. Coleman will say they met at a party while he was in Memphis to visit family for his birthday and Jasmine "force-fed him a cupcake after everyone sang Happy Birthday." Jasmine will tell you, "he said it was his birthday, and birthdays are meant to be celebrated with cake." What neither of them knew when they parted ways was that this was the beginning of their long trip to finding friendship and love with one another.
What Coleman loves about Jasmine... Jasmine is passionate and driven. I love that she has always been my partner and teammate, encouraging me to be the best. She makes me smile and being in her presence makes me happy. I can feel her love in any room. What Jasmine love about Coleman... Coleman is incredibly loving, generous and protective. He has had my back and been by my side through health scares, political campaigns and radiothons, so many radiothons. I have never had to water down my personality or ambitions to be by his side.
It was the end of a very celebratory SpelHouse homecoming weekend, it was Jasmine's 10 year reunion homecoming followed by a Monday and Tuesday full of work in Atlanta. Coleman was supposed to stop by Jasmine's work photo shoot, but said he needed to finish a bit more work instead. He told Jasmine they would go to dinner, he'd pick the place. When Coleman drove them to Del Frisco's Jasmine thought it was a sentimental surprise since this was the site of their first date and several tasty meals since. Jasmine's pre fixe dinner came with dessert, but the one Coleman read off the menu when contemplating dessert sounded more her style (bread pudding), she suggested a trade. While waiting on dessert Jasmine took them on a little stroll down memory lane of their ill-fated first date. She was sure to remind Coleman that he told her to "have a nice life" at the end. This time, his reply was a little different -- "Yeah girl, I knew you were gonna have a nice life, because it was gonna be with me." They both laughed and Coleman excused himself for the bathroom. Jasmine scrolled her phone for bit and when she looked up, the waiter delivered the dessert she gifted to Coleman and Coleman was weirdly carrying Jasmine's bread pudding trade. Confused about what he was doing, she looked up at him curiously as he sat the dessert down only to notice a sparkling diamond in his right hand. Coleman took Jasmine's hand, nervously got down on one knee and asked, her to read the plate (the dessert plate read 'Will You Marry Me?'). She never quite read the plate so Coleman asked, "Jasmine, will you marry me?" After complete surprise and shock, face palming and tears, she said yes.
