Shrine of the Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross are beautifully depicted in a series of bronze sculptures by internationally known San Luis artist Huberto Maestas. They rest along a comfortable three-quarter mile trail that climbs a short distance up a small mesa named La Mesa de la Piedad y de la Misericordia (the Hill of Piety and Mercy). The walk offers numerous opportunities for meditation and reflection and ends at the top at the chapel, La Capilla de Todos Los Santos (The Chapel of All Saints). Below lies the village, with its “vega,” San Luis’ communal pasture, and the People’s Ditch, the oldest communal irrigation waterway in Colorado. No matter your spirituality, this is an emotional and cultural experience. Look for the interpretive signs at the trailhead on the right side of the highway as you enter the town from the north.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
Say Hello to the Tallest Sand Dunes in North America! Against the backdrop of rugged 14,000′ peaks in the Sangre de Cristo mountains—the 30 square mile sand dune field, with no designated trails—invites you on an adventure. The natural and diverse system of the park ranges from great sand dunes to forests, from cottonwood groves to majestic mountain peaks and tundra. The highest elevation in the park is 13,604′ above sea level. The Great Sand Dunes Visitor Center and campground areas are at about 8,200′.

The Friar's Fork & Sanctuary was created in the footprint of the former historic St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Alamosa and is the ideal building and location! The Friar's Fork serves Italian/Mediterranean Cuisine with the Sanctuary being an upscale cocktail lounge & coffee house. It's a place where people from all over the San Luis Valley can meet to enjoy our tasty dishes and comfortable atmosphere.
