We met the modern way, on Hinge, the app “designed to be deleted.” In June 2020, at the height of COVID, Brian started our first conversation by liking a silly baby photo of Amanda tucked at the end of her otherwise normal profile. Within a few weeks, Brian was driving from his hometown of Moraga to visit Amanda in San Jose every weekend. We spent those early days trying new foods, binge-watching Ink Master, Survivor, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and laughing our way through lockdown. About a year and a half later, we moved into our first apartment together in North San Jose and now dream of the day we have our own backyard for our future dog to zoom around in.
