It all started with a swipe and tequila

The story that all started with a swipe. Both Jason and Jess were on popular dating app Bumble and decided to swipe right on each other. On Bumble, the girl has to message first and if she does not message within the first 24 hours then the match disappears. It was closing in on the 24 hour mark (like hour 23) when Jason decided to use Bumble’s one time feature of a 24 hour extension. This ended up being the decision that would change both of their lives for the better. “I am not good at soccer but we can pretend” comes across Jason’s screen. From there, their love story began. Jason and Jess matched on a Monday and by Friday after a few days of talking on the app and through text messages, Jason and Jess went on their first date. Jason brought her to a place where any normal man would take a girl on their first date. That's right, they went to bar BINGO at the Snuggery in McHenry. Jess agreed to let him drive him but Jess’s mother was not a fan of this decision. The bar where bingo was at was an hour away and when Jason showed up she proceeded to take a picture of his license plate because “what if he is a crazy person?!” Jason and Jess clicked right away and talked the whole time bingo was happening. They were talking so much that they missed the last 2 games and even yelled “BINGO” thinking they won but turns out they were playing the wrong game. Embarrassed together, Jason and Jess started falling for each other from that night on. A week goes by from that first date and Jason officially asks Jess to be his girlfriend on May 24th, 2019. A week after that they say “I love you” for the first time (We won’t admit who said it first). Dating for 4 years, they have done everything together. Being each other's travel buddies, supporting one another while Jess was in school, quarantining together during covid, and just being each other's “person” and best friend. From living with one of their good friends in their basement, to moving back in with Jason’s parents, they finally were able to buy their own place October of 2022. The proposal: Although Jason knew since he told Jess he loved her that he wanted to propose, he chose to wait until they were on their own feet as a couple. Once they got the house he knew it was finally time to ask his best friend to marry him. November 19, 2022 they had a house warming party and invited both families over to celebrate. Getting Jess out of the house was not an easy task, her thinking there was a medical concern of her cousin Michael was the only way. Jess drove Michael to CVS to get some juice thinking he had a sugar level problem and was dizzy. While Michael then took his time then looking at foot cream as Jess’s house was packed with guests, chaos broke out setting up this proposal. Orders were given out to every person. One on flowers, one on candles, balloons, lights, posters. All leading to one of the most romantic proposals. Jason even picked out a special song Take My Name by Parmalee. Once Jess arrived back home she found it strange the garage was open but walked in anyway. After blacking out from being in complete shock she reached Jason by the front door with a sign saying Marry Me. Surrounded by both families Jason got down on one knee and asked Jess to marry him. Jason and Jess are now set to be married Friday May 24, 2024. Their 5 year anniversary of dating.
