It all began at an underground Chinese local dive bar in the middle of the city. Erika was in Chengdu working at a marketing internship, and Jake was there teaching English to Chinese children. One day, we both went to the same bar, started talking, and eventually exchanged numbers. The next day, we started texting. Two weeks after exploring Chengdu together, with the impression that we would stop talking when one or the other of us left China, it was actually time for Erika to leave. A few weeks later, Jake left, and we both liked each other too much to stop talking. After nearly 4 years of long distance, which included a typhoon, a pandemic, and after only meeting in person 6 times since China, we moved in together in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Two years later, Jake proposed on St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall. This summer, the adventure continues with our wedding! Spanning two continents, our love truly knows no distance, and we are thrilled to celebrate never having to be separated again with our friends and family.
