Our first date started out like any other. The first date was the first time we had ever met. We sat down to dinner and drinks at Del Fresco's Grille in Downtown Fort Worth. As the night went on, we decided we didn't want it to end. After dinner, we looked at each other and asked "what's next?" After a bit of playful banter, and testing each other's spontaneity we landed on paddle boarding down the Trinity River at 11:00 PM that night. The plan was to go home, change into different clothes, and meet up at the spot Hannah had suggested. When both of us realized we didn't have any paddle boards, Josh said "just surprise me" with the vessel in which we would take out onto the Trinity River. The end result? A queen-sized blown up air mattress as our float of choice, and a shovel to utilize as an ore. We made it an hour and a half down the trinity river and back, talking and swapping stories before the air mattress popped a hole, and we had to deflate and walk back with our shovel and air mattress in hand. It was the first of our many, many adventures together.
It was a hot Tuesday evening, we were headed to Mama B and Papa's (Hannah's grandparents) for Papa's birthday. The game plan was to have cake and ice cream and then take a family photo. After we had celebrated Papa, we all headed outside to take the photo. Hannah's camera was set up on a tripod, but as soon as we finished the family photo, the rest of the family just quietly dispersed (if you know the Webb family, there's nothing quiet about them!) Josh looked over and said "it's probably no secret I'm going to be proposing in the near future, but I know how much this place means to you, and I thought it would be cool to do it here. Do you mind walking me around the property to share with me some of your favorite memories here?" So we did! As we walked and talked, family members got into place to make sure to capture the moment. When we circled back to the front of the house, Josh then turned and pulled out a small box out of his pocket whilst saying "so, I actually have a question to ask you today..." He then got down on one knee, and popped the question! As we were hugging after the fact and celebrating between the two of us, we saw 2 people crawl out from underneath a car, another person jump out of a bush, and another out from behind the porch, then, turning around to the dining room large, picture window was the rest of the Webb family, pounding on the window and celebrating. It was a truly, perfect day.
Like a lot of the decisions we made along the way, we chose this venue because we wanted something that was special to us, and who we are as a couple. Weatherford is where Hannah grew up, it's a place we share friends, see family and frequent often. Both of us grew up loving spending time on the lake/river, and we wanted something different, where we could write our own story as it was beginning. We hope you love it as much has we do! We are so excited to host ya'll at River's Edge in Weatherford, TX in April!
