The massive former Sears & Roebuck building, erected in 1926, has been repurposed into one of Atlanta’s most exciting mixed-use developments. You can spend all day here browsing big-name retailers, small local boutiques, and a roster of buzzy restaurants and food stalls (featuring several James Beard award-winning chefs). Browse the stores, get some food or just hang out and play carnival games at the rooftop bar.
A handful of the city’s most buzzed-about food makers and restaurateurs have put down roots in a former cast-iron stove factory. The network of tempting stalls sells everything from bacon cheeseburgers at Fred's Meat and Bread to craft beer at Hop City Store and Bar. We suggest dinner and drinks at Superica and then head over to Jeni's for some incredible scoops!
What started as an idea for a Georgia Tech graduate thesis has become one of Atlanta’s best-loved outdoor attractions. Atlanta was once called “Terminus” because of the railroads that converged in the city before the Civil War, and this project repurposes the historic 22-mile railway loop around the downtown area into a multi-use paved path lined with native plants and art installations. While only the Northside Trail, Westside Trail, Eastside Trail, and West End Trail are fully complete, the other sections are hike-able. When it’s finished it will connect 45 in-town neighborhoods, include 33 miles of multi-use trails and 2,000 acres of parks, becoming one of the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs in the United States. If you've got limited time, pick an entry point and a destination and make your own shorter loop. For instance, park at Ponce City Market and walk north to Piedmont Park before heading back, a trip that should take less than an hour at an easy pace.
It may be a bit of a dive but prepare for the best boiled peanuts and wings in Atlanta! We suggest starting with a half order of the spicy boiled peanuts and then getting a 10 piece order of wings tossed in their buffalo sauce.
Located right off the beltline in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood, this is one of Atlanta’s trendiest spots. They have a huge outdoor lounging area, the perfect place for some brunch or sipping on cocktails!
Bagels are like a love language to us. You can most likely find us going for bagels any given Saturday or Sunday morning! Emerald city has the best in town! They can get pretty busy so we suggest ordering ahead through their website. Take your bagel and schmear to go and explore East Atlanta Village!
Long before Atlanta acquired the Braves, there was a minor league team called the Atlanta Crackers. They played at Ponce de Leon Park, otherwise known as “Poncey” or “Spiller Park” to the locals. This coffee shop is adorned with Atlanta Cracker memorabilia, and is all around an awesome place to grab some coffee and avocado toast! There are two other locations as well, one in Toco Hills and the other in the Upper West Side.
Atlanta has some great brewery options. Monday Night makes some of our favorite local craft beers! Syd’s favorite is the Dr. Robert blackberry and lemon sour and Luke’s favorite is the Taco Tuesday Mexican lager.
When in Altanta do as the ATL-iens do.
This local delicacy was featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives.” We live about 5 minutes from Hankook and it was a weekly occurrence on the dinner menu for us! The “Tong Dak” crispy chicken tacos and sesame fries are literally to die for.
Fellini’s is an Atlanta staple! Pizza by the slice, and BIGGGG slices at that. What more can we say?
You feel like you’re stepping right back into the 70’s at Lloyd’s (they have wood paneling and everything)! Grab a late night slice, a cocktail and enjoy yourself!
Woody’s Cheesesteaks has been an Atlanta staple since 1975! Who would’ve thought ATL would have some world class cheesesteaks?!
Luke’s favorite meal is sandwiches, so it is obvious that we MUST include victory sandwich bar on this list. Cool vibes and even cooler sandwiches. Plus on the go cocktails!
An upscale French restaurant with a modern twist! This is in the downstairs of the Hotel Clermont, so head here for dinner and then make your way up to the lobby bar or rooftop for some post dinner drinks (and head around the side to the lounge, if you want to continue the night!).
The funkiest little restaurant in all of Atlanta! You are immediately welcomed by the walls covered in fur, plants and all around good vibes at this Cajun and Vietnamese fusion restaurant. The cocktails are STRONG and the food is A M A Z I N G!
